About the Project
For this project we were assigned to create a clock using three of the machines that we used in class this semester. For my project the 3 machines I used were the 3D printer, the vinyl machine and the laser. It was easily the most difficult project of the semester.
Laser
For this project I used the laser to cutout the base of the clock, the dimensions I used were a diameter of 12 in. The base of the clock was the most important part of it so this was the part that I took the most time doing. Below is a picture of the clock getting cutout.
Vinyl
For this part of the project I used the vinyl machine to cutout the numbers of my clock as well as the old Denver Broncos logo that was the main design. To make it, I used Illustrator to design the numbers and the logo. and the machine just cut it out exactly as I drew it. Here is some photos of the vinyl process.
3D Printer
For this part of the project I used the 3D printer to make a holder to that the clock could easily go on ledges and stuff like that. I originally wanted to make a holder for the clock arm holder. But that wasn't allowed, so I just made a holder so that it cold stay up easily. below are some pictures of the 3D printing process.
Final Product
This project was easily the most difficult project. Trying to incorporate 3 machines into something so simple was very difficult to do. I had a lot of setbacks, which included having to restart my whole project. But in the end it was very rewarding to see my hard work come together. Here is a picture of my finished clock doing what it is intended to do, Telling time.
What I Learned
During this project I learned a lot, but the biggest lesson that I learned is to not procrastinate. We where given more than enough time to work on this. But as always, I didn't use my work time well. And towards the end I was in a VERY stressful rush to complete my project in time. But, in the end I got it done and I think it looks pretty good.
